Electric Vehicle Charging
Entrust as part of a consortium won a tender for funding by Innovate UK in 2019, the UK Government’s research funding body for the integration of battery storage and electric vehicle charging facilities to lessen demands on electricity grids.
Entrust was successfully awarded funding by Innovate UK and the Department for Transport to explore ways to increase the efficiency of electric vehicle charging. Entrust played a crucial role in the project in terms of identifying suitable sites, engaging with local residents by undertaking drop-in centres and engaging from an early stage with the Council’s Planning Departments. Entrust obtained planning permission for two facilities; Leiria Way in Runcorn and Civic Way on the Wirral, both near Liverpool.
A great degree of cooperation between the consortium partners has been the key to the success of the project. The construction of the two facilities is now underway. We look forward to making a positive contribution to the communities near where we work, reducing our carbon emissions in the electrification of our transport network as well as helping to maintain electrical grid stability and providing, quick, affordable electric vehicle charging facilities to the public.
